 Instructional Designer


Job Location:  La Plata, MD, US.

Salary: $39,242-$65,400 US Dollar - Salary history is required.
 
Job Description:

The Instructional Designer will need a thorough knowledge of
college-level course design, instruction, and best teaching and
assessment practices in order to apply them to the development of
web-based instructional content for courses and training. The incumbent
will need to demonstrate creativity, skill and experience in multimedia
design and production, web page creation and collaboration with
faculty/content experts and continually explore new technologies for
potential application to instructional practices. This person will be
expected to actively participate in training for faculty and staff.

This position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Flexibility
required.

Required Skills

Master's degree in instructional design, educational technology,
computer assisted design or a related field and one year experience in
one of these fields is required. 
Demonstrated creativity, skill and experience in multimedia design and
production, web page creation and collaboration with faculty/content
experts required. 
Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve highly complex technical
problems spanning a wide range of topics from databases and networks to
web-based operations and functionality. 
Experience in integrating technology into instruction offered at a
distance. 
Well-developed understanding of microcomputers, servers, databases,
networks, and multimedia hardware and software. 
Experience with at least two of the following media development tools:
Macromedia MX; scripting languages; object languages; query languages;
streaming media; authoring packages. 
Experience with WebCT. 
Experience with image editing and video editing software and hardware. 
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. 
Understanding of college-level course design and instruction in
traditional formats required. 
Participate in professional development activities in order to keep
abreast of new developments in the instructional uses of technology and
help present reports on ITC initiatives. 
Strong and comprehensive oral, written, and interpersonal skills and the
ability to deal effectively with multiple constituencies. 
Structured and organized thinker who executes well against plan, with
the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
